Antique and period furniture can be an absolute joy to behold. However in owning such valuable heirlooms, there is often real concern in ensuring that their upkeep, maintenance and ultimately refurbishment is placed in the hands of genuine artisans, skilled tradesmen; a team of furniture professionals and trained upholsterers proficient in the traditional and classical techniques required to maintain and refurbish such valuable pieces. Welcome to Wills Furniture, the home of genuine artisan antique restoration and repairs.
The professional team refurbishing your classic piece of furniture, whether it’s French Provincial, a classic Chesterfield or a beautiful occasional chair must be capable of replacing the original strapping, springs and cushioning. The stitching, piping and fabric selection must be authentic and the framing sturdy and reset to last another 100 years The Wills team take real pride in restoring and recreating the past faithfully and precisely. For more information on reupholstery view our website here.
These are full restorations, not just a recovering. Our specialist craftsmen and women – upholsterers, machinists and seamstresses fully restore and repair your entire piece. Strappings, timberwork, hand springs, buttoning and studding are all undertaken and presented in as close to original format as possible. Wills Furniture specialise in genuine restorations to heirloom and period pieces and in recreating the luxury and comfort of the past.
The Wills team upholster and restore lounge suits, sofas, armchairs, occasional chairs, bedroom chairs, dining chairs, barstools and tub chairs, bedheads and ottomans of all types. We can also advise you on whether restoration or the purchase of a new piece is more feasible for later period pieces. In many cases, furniture restored by Wills will leave our workshop in much better shape than at the time of its original manufacture. Furniture restored and refurbished by Wills always becomes a valued feature piece you will be completely proud of.
Both our actual Workshop and Studio and the artisans working at our Hawthorn factory enjoy a connection with the craftsmanship and artisanship of earlier times through the direction of Paul Newham, the son of the original upholsterers from the Newham family who had owned and operated Wills Furniture for over 80 years. Paul has ensured that the original rigid quality standards applied in the past are still adhered to today, ensuring the same quality and standard of excellence is always achieved on every piece of Wills Furniture across the entire Wills Collection.
