If you are decorating in the ever popular French provincial style you will find a fine selection of reproduction furniture from the reign of Louis X111 and Louis XIV in the Wills Furniture French provincial furniture collection.
The Louis XIII style or Louis Treize was a fashion in French art and architecture, influencing decorative style and art. Louis X111 reigned from 1610 to 1643 and during this period foreign luxury furniture was introduced into France, resulting in a more elegant mode of living with influences from Germany and Spain and an invasion of Italian style. Furniture in this period was large and austere and featured low backs which were either square or of greater width than height. The legs were sometimes columnar, knobbed, baluster or spirally turned legs resting on small bun feet.
